Here are some ideas on projects we can apply for sponsoring to:
Application for Debian Edu KDE4/Q integration sponsoring
We would like to organize development gatherings / code sprints to adjust Debian Edu / Skolelinux to work with KDE 4 and Qt 4. The last stable release of Debian Edu is based on KDE 3 / Qt 3, and the next release is going to be based on KDE 4. Several adjustments are needed to get KDE 4 working and configured properly for Debian Edu.
Proposed amount: 13500 EURO will cover travel and lodging for several of the key people involved in this work.
Application for Debian conference 2010 (debconf 2010) sponsoring
The debian conference is the international conference where the entire Debian project meet to develop the distribution and exchange ideas and opinions on the road forward for the distribution. Debian includes Qt and KDE, and the packaging of these systems affects related distributions like Ubuntu.
Proposed amount: 10 000 EURO
Application for LTSP / KDE/Qt integration sponsoring
Debian Edu and Edubuntu uses LTSP to support thin clients and diskless workstations. The Gnome integration is working fairly well, with both local devices (like CD or USB stick) and audio working well. With KDE and Qt there are several problems, and we would like to organize development gatherings where key people in the LTSP and KDE communities come together to solve it.
Proposed amount: 7000 EURO
Application for Debconf Qt integration sponsoring
The framework for allowing debian package to ask configuration questions during installation currently only work with Gtk/Gnome. There used to be a implementation using Qt, but this has not been working for a while, and is lacking a upstream developer. To try to get this feature operational again, we would like to fund or organize development gatherings to get Qt and Debconf people to allow Debconf to ask questions using a Qt based backend.
Proposed amount: 7000 EURO
Open standard video sponsoring
Audun Vaaler is organizing a gathering of people interested in video based on free and open standards, in cooperation with Frikanalen. The goal is to get people in Norway to get together and learn more about open standard based video and the tools available. HTML5 will be the focus of this first gathering, and video formats like Ogg Theora and WebM will be covered. This gathering will be partly sponsored by NUUG Foundation, but more funds for travel and accomodation for speakers involved in developing multimedia tools is most welcome.
Proposed amount: 7000 EURO
